Huge ski resort located about 3 1/2 hours north of La. This resort gets large accumulations of snow. It is a long drive from La but worth it. It invested in high speed lifts to keep the line short. The snow is excellent.
Awesome resort in the mountains near Lake Tahoe. If you lodge in Lake Tahoe it is about a 30 to 40 minute drive to kirkwood. The trails have large pine trees along all of the trails. The snow is excellent. The scenery is incrediable. Well worth the trip.
Small resort located close to Mammoth. You can skip this one.

If you want to avoid the crowds and enjoy some great ski runs I recommend you visit Alta. Don't expect great scenery. Remember you wanted to go here to get some skiing in. The snow is like baby powder.
Lots of crowds. Lots of short runs. Great place to go if you want some variety in you ski runs. However, It can be a little crowded.
So you want to be pampered. This is the place for you. Crowds. No problem they limit the number of tickets they sell. So I suggest you buy your pass early in the morning. The runs are some of the best groomed I have ever skied. The runs are extremly long. So enjoy. No Snowboarding allowed!
Recommended by the locals. If you want to avoid the tourist, I suggest you visit Solitude.

Very high altitude ski site. Most people take a few days to adjust to the altitude since most of the lodging is at high altitude. The snow is a little sticky
Great place for some awesome powder. Just watch out for the snowboarders. They tend to fly by you.
Formally Purgatory: This is a remote resort location. Remember to take a large group with you. You may need them to keep you company
